Understanding Your Nervous System


This week is about understanding how your nervous system responds to stress and beginning to shift your body out of survival mode.

Step 1: Education

Start here to understand what’s happening in your body and why you may feel stuck in stress or overwhelm.

Step 2: Reflections

Take a few minutes to write in your journal

Start by tuning in gently:

  • Why did you sign up for this program?

  • How would you like to feel after these 4 weeks?

  • One word to describe how you’re feeling right now

Now, begin to notice your patterns:

  • What people, places, or situations tend to bring up feelings of fear, panic, or overwhelm?

Before we move deeper into this work, it’s important to build a foundation of safety.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll learn practices that help your body feel more regulated and supported from within. But safety doesn’t only come from inside - it can also come from what’s around you.

So take a moment to bring to mind:

  • a person, place, memory, or even an object or sensation something real or imagined that helps you feel safe, calm, or supported

  • breath

  • awareness

  • touch

  • movement
